Thank you for participating in National History Day!
National History Day engages middle and high school students every year in conducting original research on historical topics of interest. Students begin with their projects at the school lever, then compete to advance to Districts, the States, and finally Nationals. Learn more about National History Day here.
Virginia National History Day is overseen by the Virginia Museum of History and Culture. The District 5 competition is overseen by staff at the Office of Historic Alexandria and George Washington's Estate in partnership with countless volunteers and schools throughout Northern Virginia.
The 2021 contest will be hosted 100% virtually. The awards ceremony will be posted on Sunday, March 14 to enjoy online. All participants will receive certificates of participation in the mail and category winners will be mailed their medals.
